I find plays harder to read than novels but again Priestley has come up trumps. Anyone who knows the play already knows that of course. There is a 1980s version with Peter Vaughn, Prunella Scales (and many excellent others) and I found it running in my mind as I was reading the play. Excellent experience.The photographer makes a wonderful statement - for one more than a little tiddly, it is a brilliant comment on life:
we're all in the same boat.
we all come here - we don't know why
we all go in our turn - and we don't know where.
if you're a bit better off, then be thankful
and if you dont get into trouble and make a fool of yourself
well be thankful for that.
for well you might.

I enjoyed this book so much -
